LOOKING FOR A FRESH START IN THE WILKESBORO / BOONE AREA
Before you scroll past another housing post, let me tell you a little about myself.
I’m a 56 year old woman looking for a guest house, mother-in-law suite, garage apartment, tiny home, caretaker arrangement, house-sitting opportunity, or other affordable housing option in the Wilkesboro, North Wilkesboro, Boone, or surrounding areas.
About a month ago, I sold nearly everything I owned, put a few important things in storage, loaded up what was left, and moved from Missouri to North Carolina after reconnecting with friends I had known for decades.
The plan was simple: start over, build my online resale business, and create a quieter life for myself.
Unfortunately, the living arrangement ended abruptly and much sooner than I anticipated. Apparently life had a slightly different plan.
And here we are.
Me and my little dog, Penny.
She’s adapted beautifully. I’m the one browsing Craigslist and negotiating with the universe.
I’m not looking for sympathy and I’m not looking for a handout. I’m simply looking for a fair opportunity and a stable place for the next four to six months while I continue building my business and work toward having a place of my own.
A little about me:
I’m fairly quiet and tend to keep to myself. I enjoy cooking, grilling, and spending as much time outdoors as possible, even if it’s just sitting in a chair enjoying the weather and watching Penny explore.
Most of my time is spent working on my online business, reading, researching inventory, or enjoying a peaceful afternoon outside. I’m not much for drama, parties, or constant activity. These days, a good meal, a comfortable chair, and a little fresh air go a long way.
I should also mention that I’m on disability due to arthritis in my neck and spine. Fortunately, I’m still quite independent and stay as active as I’m able. I don’t require any special accommodations, nursing care, or assistance with daily living.
Like most people with a few miles on them, there are some things I do a little slower than I used to, but I still enjoy staying busy and productive.
I run a small online resale business specializing in vintage and collectible items. Most of my day is spent photographing, researching, listing, and shipping inventory.
Since I’ve mentioned my business a few times, I should probably clarify that it is a fairly small operation. Most of the items I sell are small vintage and collectible pieces that fit into a couple of storage totes and can be kept neatly in my room.
I don’t require a large workspace, extra buildings, or significant storage space. A laptop, an internet connection, and a little room for inventory are usually all I need.
I don’t need a garage, barn, storage building, or half the house to run my business.
Yet.
That’s the dream, anyway.
For now, my entire operation fits into a couple of storage totes, a laptop, and a surprisingly patient little dog named Penny.
I am also open to creative arrangements involving:
• House-sitting
• Pet-sitting
• Vacation property oversight
• Caretaker opportunities
• Estate organization
• Storage clean-outs
• Organizing garages, basements, and outbuildings
• Helping sell unwanted items online
One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I genuinely enjoy organizing things. Most people see a cluttered garage and run the other way. I start mentally sorting shelves.
One quick note:
My goal here is simply to find housing and establish a stable home base for me and Penny while I continue building my business and work toward homeownership.
I am not looking for a romantic relationship or anything beyond a respectful tenant-landlord, caretaker, or house-sitting arrangement. Friendly conversation is always welcome, but my focus right now is creating stability and moving forward.
For transparency’s sake, I do smoke cigarettes, but I’m respectful of property and always follow house rules regarding smoking.
I have come to genuinely love this area and would like the opportunity to stay, work, and become part of the community.
If you have a guest house, apartment, cabin, converted workshop, mother-in-law suite, caretaker opportunity, or house-sitting arrangement and think we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.
Sometimes life throws a curveball.
What matters is what you do next.
I’m doing my best to make the next chapter a good one.
