This renovated historic property on almost 2 acres is the perfect multi-family home. It's listed as an 8 bedroom 9+ bath because that's the max that craigslist allows. There is parking for 15 vehicles onsite.
Our unique property was originally built in 1919 as the T.B. Vance General Store in the small Appalachian community of Plumtree. Plumtree is an unincorporated rural community located between Boone and Asheville and is situated directly alongside the North Toe River. This community was once a thriving mountain town driven by the mining and refinement of mica. Mica is a unique mineral with non-conductive and fire proof qualities that grows in sheets and can then be processed into a multitude of applications. Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone were known to stop in as they both had business dealings with the mica plant here in Plumtree. NASA used mica on the underside of return craft in order to keep the spacecraft from burning up upon re-entry.
Once known as the T.B. Vance General Store, this facility is approximately 16,000 square feet and was purchased by my father in 1992. We renovated for around 5 years and have continued to develop the space and other surrounding buildings for approximately 30 years. It was operated commercially in a wide variety of ways. Currently, we live in approximately 8,000 square feet and rent out the other 8,000 square feet. We are currently between tenants and thought it would be a good time to offer it up for sale. It has 11 bedrooms, 10 full baths, 4 half baths, full commercial kitchen, 2 residential kitchens, swimming pool, 3 wood burning fires, a gas fire, river decks, sun room, library, 2 large bars, and great room for entertaining/parties.
The pictures attached only show a fraction of the 16,000 square ft building. The property must be viewed to get an accurate feel of the space. Hope to hear from you soon!
