This beautiful house is in the heart of historic Valle Crucis, a valley just outside Boone, NC and near historic Mast Country Store. Valle Crucis is the only North Carolina community on the National Register of historic places. The house is located across road from Watauga River, famous for trout fishing.

The house is near Appalachian State University with excellent summer concert series and near Lees McRae with nationally known summer theater. It is also near three large snow skiing mountains (Beech, Appalachian, and Sugar Mountain ski resorts). It is within short walk from Valle Crucis park (open and free to public) with many walking trails along Watauga river, public bathrooms, and many areas for picnicking. Pets welcome in park.

Take a short drive to Mast General Store on National Register of Historic Places. You will also be able to visit the Valle Crucis fair each fall during "leaf viewing" season which features a famous outdoor fair with 100 + vendors of crafts and art. The house is also near historic Grandfather Mountain with a beautiful nature preserve. Make a short drive to historic Blowing Rock famous for its shopping district and excellent restaurants. There are also many other excellent restaurants and antique shops very close to Valle Crucis. The house is nestled on a mountainside in a quiet area with beautiful views of the valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Valle Crucis is just outside Boone, North Carolina, a town voted by USA TODAY as one of the 10 best small towns to spend the summer (temp stays around 75 degrees all summer). The winter season is a time for snow and roaring fires in a see-through fireplace between the den and living room. The house is designed for great entertaining for large families.

The most delightful feature of the house is the state-of-the-art kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The four bedrooms provide plenty of private space for sleeping. There are also two sofa beds, one in each of the two spacious dens.

Four decks surround the house for viewing the mountains. One deck is designed for outdoor cooking. The four bedrooms include a master suite with king bed and private bath, another bedroom on Master hall with queen bed and private bath across the hall. The other two bedrooms are down one level: a queen bedroom and a second bedroom with twin beds. These two bedrooms share a large bath. Rental includes all linens and towels, soap and shampoo. All bathrooms have "warming heaters" built into the walls. Large washer-dryer room. All bedrooms have TVs. Upper den has digital TV with "Movies on Demand." This den also has wet bar with ice maker that produces 40 pounds of ice for parties and family reunions. Adjacent to upper den is comfortable library filled with religious and contemporary books.

On the west side of the foyer is a large, fully-equipped, gourmet kitchen equipped with Subzero Refrigerator/freezer, Miele dishwasher, and 5 Star 48" commercial stove/oven/grill, and with single slab granite countertops, solid cherry cabinets, and a breakfast nook surrounded by 16 windows and a glass door leading to the covered pergola with gas grill.

Through the corridor you pass the pantry with its solid maple cabinets and built-in shelving and enter the spacious dining room which features a beautiful Italian Morano chandelier, wood-burning fireplace, custom mahogany wood paneling, elegant dining table with upholstered chairs, and French doors leading onto the pergola.

The entire northern side of the upstairs makes up the grand master suite which includes two large walk-in closets with built-in dressers, a full bathroom with rain shower room enclosed with marble, travertine and antique French terra cotta tiles, a nook with a large whilrpool tub and fully arched tile ceiling, custom vanities with single slab marble countertops, the master bedroom with queen bed, a leather sofa next to the wood-burning fireplace, private balcony, and a gallery with built-in seating overlooking the living room which leads to a private covered porch with a porch swing to rest and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.

The home is located at an elevation of nearly 4,000 feet where the summer's high temperatures average only 75 degrees. Therefore, although there is no traditional "air conditioning" system, the home's unique and comprehensive ventilation / cooling system which includes six exhaust fans and six ceiling fans create a comfortably cool atmosphere throughout the home during even the warmest summer days.

Also included on the property are a level grassed-in yard, a stone walking path around the main house and several acres of mountain terrain with stone formations, a stream and trails to explore.

***GUEST HOUSE - The two story, 1400 square foot, guest house above the garage can be reserved for an additional $75 per night or $350 per week. As you enter this mountain cabin you are greeted by the warmth and comfort of the living area with a cozy wood buring fireplace. The step-saver kitchen allows you not to miss a minute while preparing snacks or a meal and there's dining for 4. The 1st queen size bedroom is also on the main level and a full bathroom.

You will find the queen size master bedroom upstairs along with the master sitting area with satellite TV and private balcony with chairs for relaxing.

On the lower level is the family room with satellite TV, board games, gas fireplace, and peaceful bliss! The amazing 4 person hot tub is just what the doctor ordered! This spacious 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home is located 1/10 of a mile past the entry to Ski Beech. We are the second parking area past the entrance and about 1 mile from the Beech Mountain Club; swim, golf, and tennis areas. In the winter months, enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. In the summer relax on the decks in a hammock or hammock chairs surrounded by nature.

The floor plan is perfect for accommodating families. With over 1,650 square feet, our home has four bedrooms; 1 king with private full bath, 1 queen, and 2 rooms with 2 separate twin beds in both rooms. All of the bedrooms are located on the same floor which is the lower level of the house. The master suite and the queen room both have new sliding glass doors with access to the lower level balcony. We also have a washer and dryer on the bedroom level. The main floor has an open floor plan with two more large sliding glass doors which includes a large living room with a stone gas fireplace, dining room, a well-equipped large kitchen with very large breakfast bar, and a half bath. Wood Decking surrounds the house on the upper level and the lower lever is half around on the wooded side of the property. We have two parking areas with enough parking for 4 cars; one area is on the paved road and the other is at the bottom of the property with man made steps up to the house (they are very neat). Everyone that has come into our house has said that they feel like they are in a tree house. We have spent a lot of time working to make it the perfect mountain retreat. We have hired the best cleaning team on the mountain to make sure that your stay is comfortable and relaxing.
We are conveniently located on Beech Mountain Parkway near Fred�s General Mercantile (www.fredsgeneral.com), sledding hills, ski rentals, and everything Beech Mountain (www.skibeech.com). Beech Mountain offers numerous year-round activities. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and sledding (home includes several sleds). Heading into the upper level of the house, the woodwork and custom detailing is more pronounced. Halfway up the stairwell grants you access to the back yard and wooded area via a private porch and stairway. Continuing up the staircase, the large vaulted ceilings and open spaces showcase the intricate woodworking with small windows, allowing natural light to flow into the home�s center. The upstairs is where you will find the rest of the tastefully decorated bedrooms, including the master suite with king bed.

The Master Suite houses a 360 degree breathtaking mountain view through the 12 large windows that line the walls. Designed to enable its guests to escape to their own private mountain sanctuary, the master incorporates sophistication with the inherent romance of the mountains. You will find a cozy log cabin, only five years young with all the charm of a mountain retreat. It is only 1/2 mile from Ski Beech, near the Beech Mountain Country Club and Recreation area. Nestled around mature trees that peek through your window, it offers great privacy and lots of clean air. Enjoy a relaxing evening in the rocking chairs on the front porch or curl up in front of the fireplace, all designed to sooth your spirit. Retreat for rest in the two well appointed bedrooms each with its own full size bath endowed with all you need (minus the toothbrush).
